The activities of the Waunakee Optimist Club are varied. From sponsoring youth activities; working with the Chamber of Commerce on Waunafest; sponsoring dances at the high school; ski trips for middle school students; scholarships for high school seniors; and bowling parties for kids, we are always working to help our youth.

Although we come from all walk of life, the Waunakee Optimist Club members share one common trait. We know we can make a difference.

“Involvement,” “Commitment,” “Enthusiasm,” …calls it what you like but it works. These are the qualities, which make up our group. We are looking for active, community-minded people interested in encouraging opportunities for youth and promoting civic involvement.

An Optimist Club member receives as much as he or she gives…

• Working directly with the Waunakee school district to enhance education.
• The fellowship of people who get things done—and the example they set forth embracing a similar optimistic mindset.
• New social and working relationships with individuals from a cross section of our community.
• The opportunity to develop and demonstrate leadership skills locally, regionally, and nationally, and internationally.
• And the satisfaction of making a difference in the lives of people in our community.

We also give financial support to students wanting to attend camps, seminars, Badger State, Post Prom, and many other activities.

The Waunakee Optimists are a friendly group of working people. We meet at the Waunakee Middle School from 7:00 to 7:30 a.m. once a month for our Middle School Student of the Month otherwise we have social get-togethers four times a year normally on Sunday evenings and work on youth projects together.
